MPTN Supplier Diversity Initiative
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN), a federally recognized Native American Tribe, along with its largest business entity Foxwoods Resort Casino is committed to supplier diversity. The Tribe’s support enhances diversity by offering economic opportunity through participation in our procurement process.
It is MPTN policy to give MPTN Tribal Members, Native American, minority, and women owned suppliers an opportunity to compete on an equal basis with all other vendors in the competitive marketplace. The Tribe’s objective is to significantly increase its business with these suppliers.
The Procurement organization leads and supports the MPTN values in regards to the development of diverse supplier opportunities. Procurement, with the assistance of the Supplier Diversity Coordinator, maintains an ongoing search for qualified diverse suppliers. Our goal is to deliver and maintain high quality candidates for inclusion within our supplier base. We strive to deliver the following to our diverse suppliers:
- Participation in the procurement process.
- Mentoring to those suppliers who either need or request assistance.
- Timely responses to all requests made to our Supplier Diversity Coordinator.
- An environment of open communication and transparency.
- Fair and ethical opportunities throughout the process.

We accept certifications from certifying agencies whose responsibility is to verify diverse ownership criteria:
- Federal or state recognized Native American/Alaskan Native or First Nations Band Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) office certification.
- National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) or any of their regional chapters.
- Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) or any of their regional chapters.
- National Women Business Owners Corporation.
- Federal or State municipality certification.
